CPM up against Police!

Subhro Maitra Malda January 31: Now CPI (M) is up against police. Malda district CPI (M) has decided to stage an agitation against the police inaction on 3rd February next at Kaliachak. The CPI (M) is targeting police following successive murders including that of party workers in Kaliachak police station areas recently.
In fact while blaming police, CPI (M) district secretary is resorting to the expletives, so long used by the opposition. “The partisan attitude of police has made the life of common people a misery at Kaliachak. Police Super is ignoring our complaints while he is out to act as per Congress dictum”, said Jiban Maitra, secretary. “The law and order at its lowest ebb here and we are to launch a movement against police inaction from 3rd February meeting”, he added.
On the other hand, Congress too raised their voice against police on the issue of 27th January incident at Jadupur, under Kaliachak police station. It may be recalled that on that day two persons belonging to both Congress and CPI (M) were killed in broad day light. “At least nine of the houses of our supporters were torched and still about 100 persons were homeless”, said Congress MLA Mousam Noor. “We had lodged FIR against 25 persons involved in this arson and killing of our worker Md Atabuddin, but police did not take any action”, she added. In a press meet today she vowed to launch a stir after Monday if no action was taken to provide security to their supporters.
Police Super Satyajit Bandyopadhyay however, refused to accept the ‘inaction’ tag. “We have already arrested 8 persons involved in 27th January’s incident and forwarded them to court. Raid is going on for the others”, he said. SP further added, “With a view to the coming general election, political parties are out to give shelters to the criminals and out to capture areas which makes the task of police tough.”
Maitra claimed that a list of 17 criminals was submitted to police by his party two months back but none was arrested. He also made dig at district police over the recent arrests of terror link. “It is a shame on the part of district police that CID or police from other state have succeeded in arresting the LeT linkman or arms dealers or even fake currency racket.”
